I am not a denominational minister, nor am I opposed to any as such, only the possible over-emphasis of non-essential doctrinal differences that may lead to division of the body of Christ.

The Temptation of Christ

A Parenetic Perspective

INTRODUCTION
The Temptation of Christ, as presented in the synoptic gospels, attracts networks of
associations that interconnect Christological and soteriological topics throughout the Bible.
Furthermore, there is a historical foundation to the testing of Jesus extending back as far as
Adam and the Fall. This thesis examines the interconnecting associations, the historical
foundation, and the significant meaning surrounding the Temptation rather than the impeccable
response of Christ as application for believers.
The desire here is to present a conservative, evangelical view. Although several insights
will be added from diverse backgrounds, their contributions are used in attempt to affirm
traditional theological opinions. The Temptation is interpreted as a literal, historical reality, not a
fantasy of Christ’s imagination. more
